John Muir Segment of the Ice Age Trail



The John Muir Segment of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail is a short, easy loop trail around Ennis Lake in Marquette County, Wisconsin. If you hike with small children, this 1.7 mile (2.7 km) loop is perfect. This segment is located in the John Muir Memorial County Park near the boyhood home of John Muir, founder of the Sierra Club.





Signs of spring on today's hike included pussy willows making their debut and plenty of ducks on the lake. This segment of the Ice Age Trail is well-maintained and easy to follow. It features no challenging terrain, but can be a bit muddy during periods of wet weather.










 


Trail Conditions - Muddy, partly sunny and 32°F (0°C). 

Total Distance Covered  - 1.7 miles (2.7 km) out and back.

Difficulty - Easy.


Highlights - Pussy willows and ducks.
 
Location - Parked at the John Muir Memorial County Park parking area on Fox River Drive.
 
Total Official Ice Age Trail Miles Completed to Date - Total official Ice Age Trail distance completed 151 miles (242 km).
